This Rivian R1S came through our Los Angeles studio as an electric platform build — EV-specific spec considerations come into play: glass curvature, charge-port edges, and the way battery heat moves through the cabin all factor into the install plan. Multi-service builds are sequenced deliberately — one finish has to fully cure before the next one goes on top, so the schedule reflects that order.
A blue Rivian R1S under full-body matte paint protection film, with ceramic tint including the full windshield and a matte-specific ceramic coating on top. The factory blue stays — the film just takes the gloss out of it and takes the rock chips instead of the paint.
Matte PPF is self-healing urethane like the clear version, so light swirls pull out with heat, but the topcoat is textured and must never be polished. The coating chosen here is formulated for matte surfaces: it adds slickness and water beading without filling the texture and turning the panels semi-gloss. Full-windshield ceramic film matters on an EV — less heat load means less range spent on air conditioning.

Rivian builds with several finishes work when each layer is planned in sequence: paint protection film keeps the exterior factory-perfect against road debris and UV, while ceramic tint cuts the heat soak that California sun pushes into a closed cabin; PPF stops the impact and chemical hits, ceramic coating sits on top so washing the car takes a fraction of the time and grime does not bake in.
