About this build

This Mercedes AMG S63 came through our Los Angeles studio as a performance daily-driver build — the finish call usually hangs on whether the owner wants the car to read factory-spec or visibly customized once it leaves our bay. The matte finish is the call when the owner wants the car to read low-profile under daylight and refuse to flash highlights at night. Multi-service builds are sequenced deliberately — one finish has to fully cure before the next one goes on top, so the schedule reflects that order.

The owner of this S63 wanted to soften the factory gloss without losing the depth of the original silver paint. We installed full-body matte paint protection film so the entire exterior shifted to a satin finish while keeping the underlying color readable in good light. Matte PPF needs careful tension across the long S-Class door panels — any pull marks show under flat finishes that gloss films forgive. After the film cured we layered a ceramic coating on top to lock in hydrophobic behavior and simplify wash routine on a finish that shows water spots more easily than gloss.

What we used on this Mercedes

Why these finishes were combined

Mercedes builds with several finishes work when each layer is planned in sequence: PPF stops the impact and chemical hits, ceramic coating sits on top so washing the car takes a fraction of the time and grime does not bake in.

What to expect after the install
