About this build

This Mercedes GT53 came through our Los Angeles studio as a performance daily-driver build — the finish call usually hangs on whether the owner wants the car to read factory-spec or visibly customized once it leaves our bay. Single-service builds like this one keep the install schedule tight and let the owner add the next layer later if the use case changes.

This performance four-door coupe came in for a comprehensive window upgrade using high-performance ceramic tint. The goal was to reduce heat penetration while preserving clear outward visibility and maintaining the original design lines of the glass. Ceramic tint technology blocks a significant portion of infrared radiation, making daily driving more comfortable without darkening the interior excessively. Installation required precise cutting and shaping of each film section to match the curved side windows and rear glass. The final step involved heat-shrinking the rear window film to conform to the compound curvature.

What we used on this Mercedes

Premium ceramic window film — 99% UV rejection, ~80% IR heat rejection on darker shades, no metallic layer (so phone, GPS, and cabin radar stay clean). Plotter-cut, never hand-cut on the glass.

Why this finish was the right call

Ceramic tint is the highest-leverage upgrade on a vehicle that lives in Los Angeles sun. The cabin temperature drop, UV cut, and glare reduction show up the first day. The privacy and look upgrade are a bonus. Ceramic technology rejects infrared heat without the metallic layer that older films use, so phone signal, GPS, and cabin radar all stay clean.

On California freeways the difference is felt in two places — how cool the dashboard surface stays after a noon park, and how much sharper the sunset glare gets cut on the drive home. Even one shade of ceramic on the front sides changes the cabin experience meaningfully, and it stays inside the legal VLT limit.

What to expect after the install

Ceramic tint cure: keep the windows up for 3–5 days while the film fully dries. Small water pockets are normal during cure and disappear on their own. Lifetime warranty against fading and bubbling.
