About this build

This Tesla Cybertruck came through our Los Angeles studio as an electric platform build — EV-specific spec considerations come into play: glass curvature, charge-port edges, and the way battery heat moves through the cabin all factor into the install plan. The matte finish is the call when the owner wants the car to read low-profile under daylight and refuse to flash highlights at night. Single-service builds like this one keep the install schedule tight and let the owner add the next layer later if the use case changes.

A Cybertruck wrapped in matte charcoal metallic. Against bare stainless the truck reads as a mirror; in charcoal it reads as one solid mass, and the fold lines finally show as shape instead of reflection.

Wrapping stainless is its own discipline: the surface is harder and less forgiving than clearcoat, edges are sharp enough to score film, and the panel gaps are wide and perfectly straight, so a cut that wanders by a millimetre is visible down the whole flank. The wheel arches and lower rocker were wrapped through rather than trimmed at the lip to keep road spray out from under the film.

What we used on this Tesla

Why this finish was the right call

A full vinyl wrap is reversible by design. The original paint stays sealed underneath the cast film, so the build can be revisited or sold without committing to a permanent colour change. The film stays dimensionally stable for years and can be removed in a controlled session without damaging factory clear — how long it looks new depends far more on where the car sleeps than on the brand of film.

For a Los Angeles daily driver the appeal is finishing the car in a colour the OEM does not offer — a satin neutral, a deep flip-shift, or a brand colour that simply was not on the build sheet — without locking the value of the car into that choice. When the lease rolls or the build evolves, the wrap comes off in a single morning.
