About this build

This Chevrolet Traverse came through our Los Angeles studio as a platform build — panel-by-panel prep stays the same across body styles — wash, decontaminate, align, install. Single-service builds like this one keep the install schedule tight and let the owner add the next layer later if the use case changes.

This family SUV received a full color change using interstellar liquid blue protective film, combining visual transformation with paint preservation. The finish has a fluid metallic quality that gives the body more depth than a flat solid color would. Since the body relies on broad surfaces rather than aggressive sculpting, consistency in film orientation and tension was essential to keep the metallic effect uniform. The protective layer also adds practical durability for daily driving. The strongest color movement appears across the hood and upper side sections where light rolls across the surface.

What we used on this Chevrolet

Why this finish was the right call

Color PPF lets the owner change the look of the car without losing factory paint underneath. Strip the film years later and the original finish is still the original finish — that is the entire point of choosing colour PPF over a wrap or a respray. The pigmented urethane is heavier than cast vinyl, holds sharper edges around shut-lines, and self-heals the same way clear PPF does.

In Los Angeles specifically, color PPF makes sense for two kinds of owner: the long-hold collector who wants a finish that survives a decade of garage time, and the short-hold lease driver who wants a colour shift today and a clean turn-in tomorrow. Both end up at the same spec sheet.
