About this build

This Tesla Cybertruck came through our Los Angeles studio as a electric platform build — EV-specific spec considerations come into play: glass curvature, charge-port edges, and the way battery heat moves through the cabin all factor into the install plan. Satin is the in-between choice — deeper than matte, calmer than gloss, and the most forgiving on day-to-day swirl marks. Single-service builds like this one keep the install schedule tight and let the owner add the next layer later if the use case changes.

This project introduced a color-shifting satin vinyl that changes tone depending on light and movement. The flip pigment transitions between deep volcanic hues and warmer metallic reflections, creating a dynamic surface across the vehicle's angular body. Installation required careful orientation of the film so the color shift flows consistently from panel to panel. Large flat surfaces made alignment critical to avoid visible tone changes between sections. The result is a controlled color transition that evolves as the truck moves through different lighting conditions, most noticeable along the long bed panels and front fender edges.

What we used on this Tesla

Why this finish was the right call

A full vinyl wrap is reversible by design. The original paint stays sealed underneath the cast film, so the build can be revisited or sold without committing to a permanent colour change. The film is dimensionally stable for the rated 5–7 year window, and it can be removed in a controlled session without damaging factory clear.

For a Los Angeles daily driver the appeal is finishing the car in a colour the OEM does not offer — a satin neutral, a deep flip-shift, or a brand colour that simply was not on the build sheet — without locking the value of the car into that choice. When the lease rolls or the build evolves, the wrap comes off in a single morning.
