About this build

This Mercedes GLC300 came through our Los Angeles studio as a performance daily-driver build — the finish call usually hangs on whether the owner wants the car to read factory-spec or visibly customized once it leaves our bay. Gloss keeps the factory-paint depth front-and-centre while the colour shift carries the look. A high-gloss cherry blossom vinyl wrap was selected to give this compact SUV a vibrant color identity while preserving the factory paint underneath. Gloss finishes amplify reflections and body contours, which means panel alignment and surface preparation were critical throughout the installation process. The color shifts slightly between pink and soft rose depending on lighting conditions. In Southern California daylight, the tone becomes especially pronounced across the rear hatch and quarter panels, where the curved surfaces create a gradual reflection gradient.

What we used on this Mercedes

3M, Avery Dennison, or KPMF architectural cast vinyl — premium 7–9 year films, plotter-cut on a Roland pro plotter so every cut line lands inside a factory shut-line.

Why this finish was the right call

A full vinyl wrap is reversible by design. The original paint stays sealed underneath the cast film, so the build can be revisited or sold without committing to a permanent colour change. The film is dimensionally stable for the rated 5–7 year window, and it can be removed in a controlled session without damaging factory clear.

For a Los Angeles daily driver the appeal is finishing the car in a colour the OEM does not offer — a satin neutral, a deep flip-shift, or a brand colour that simply was not on the build sheet — without locking the value of the car into that choice. When the lease rolls or the build evolves, the wrap comes off in a single morning.

What to expect after the install

Vinyl wrap care: hand-wash with a pH-neutral shampoo, no automated brush carwashes. Expect 5–7 years of finish life on a daily driver, longer on a garage-kept build.
